MySpace is one of the mightiest web entities to emerge outof the Web 2.0 era. It has over 110 million user accounts. It's one of thebusiest websites in the world. And it's also, in my opinion, the most detestable abominationever to stain the internet.

Here are eight key reasons why MySpace is the worst websitein the world:

1. It looks hideous. You'd have thought that such ahigh-profile, popular website would be able to employ some web designers withat least a bit of skill. But no, the page design is awful and that's just thestart of it.

The main problem is that unfortunately, masses ofunder-educated teenagers have discovered that MySpace allows you to alter theHTML design of your profile pages. Now, most of them seem just about industriousenough to copy and paste pre-prepared HTML code from third-party sites. Butvery few are clever enough to realise that most of the pages they've createdlook like a herd of cows has been sick all over them. Not only do they lookawful, they stink too.

2. Music. So, Google has sent you onto someone's MySpacepage. Annoyingly, it's got a disgusting, pink, spotty pattern non-uniformlytiled in the background. It looks like puke, but you endeavour to give the pagea chance anyway. But then, disaster! A repulsive rock song starts blaring outat you from your speakers and you realise that the owner of the page has chosento inflict all its visitors with an embedded MySpace Music track. At what stagedo these people realise that this is not an attraction, it's a real turn off?

3. Bands. While we're on the subject of music, the bands onthere are also incredibly annoying. Unless you disable 'band adds' in youraccount settings, you'll get hundreds of entirely awful wannabe rock bandstrying to add you as a friend on their page. They do this obviously to makethemselves look more popular than they actually are. Back a couple of years agowhen I still used my MySpace account, I selected to block these band adds. Itdidn't work though, I still got loads of them adding me on a regular basis.MySpace, it seems, is not only annoying, it's also broken.

4. Spam. There are tens of thousands of spammer accounts onMySpace. And the only reason they are there is to scam and trick users intoclicking on nefarious hyperlinks. You get messages that pretend to be from yourfriend but are actually trying to trick you into giving over sensitiveinformation such as your password or internet banking settings. It's just soannoying.

5. Philosophy. The success of Facebook relies heavily on itsphilosophy that you should only add someone if you are actually close enough tothem in real life for them to consider you a friend. So on Facebook, you don'tget added by random people who you once brushed past at a party in Islingtonten years ago. With MySpace on the other hand - you get absolutely anyone andeveryone adding you. Bands, friends of friends who you've never met... It'sboring.

This is spurred on by the existence of thousands of fakecelerity accounts which people seem only too willing to add to their friendslists. Why they do this I'll never know.
